German imbricated roofing (Schuppen-deckung)
This type of slating is mainly characterized by the use of scale-shaped slates of the same size. The slates along the ridge, the eaves and the rakes are of different size and shape.
Technologywise, imbricated roofing (Schuppen) is the same as roofing with curved-end slates (Bogen).
Underlayment
Full-surface sheeting, nailing building boards, nailing masonry.
The shape of the slates
The height of the scale is to be measured perpendicularly to the foot, while its width parallel to it.

The smallest sizes. They are available in various sizes in the European market. The piece/m2 values apply to a pitch of 45o, except the first three rows.
Minimal head and side laps
The minimal value for the head and side laps in case of single tiling is the 29% of the slate height, min. 5 cm (roof). The overlap within the overlaid rake and its lap on the roof is at least 8 cm. In case of wall tiling the minimum head and side lap is 4 cm.
Row lift
The covering rows of the coverage have to be tiled with step lapping, just like in case of the old German roofing method (Bogen). Special roof constructions, such as arched towers, can make an exception to this. With these structures you have to be particularly careful when slating.
Rake, hip, ridge
Along straight rakes the edges must be bonded. The starter and end rake edges can be made round or covered with pressed or straight tiles. The starter rake edge can be completed with inserted slates or without them, by the client's request.
On the hip the starter side can be tiled as an overlaid border. For this you can use rounded, pressed or straight slates. The end edge on the hip can be tiled as a double edge, with a single or a double step lap or as an overlaid edge. The border of the underlaid slates has to be trimmed from above at the overlaid edge and supplied with a drainage groove or arc.
